Gate Person  Location: Stoke-on-Trent (ST1) Start Date: 16/02/2026 Duration: Until 27/02/2026 Hours: 45 hours per week Rate: £13 per hour A leading Tier 1 civil engineering and infrastructure contractor is seeking a Gate Person / General Operative to support works on a live construction site in Stoke-on-Trent. This is a site-based role within a major infrastructure environment. You will play a key part in maintaining site security, managing vehicle movements and supporting the wider site team when required. The Role You will be responsible for controlling access to site, ensuring safe vehicle movements and maintaining public and workforce safety. When not operating at the gate, you will support the site team with general operative duties. Key Responsibilities Maintain site security and control all access and egress Manage and direct vehicle movements safely on and off site Guide deliveries and visitors safely around the site Use clear hand signals and communication tools effectively Operate two-way radio systems to communicate with the site team Ensure vehicles exiting site do not disrupt the public highway Maintain safe pedestrian routes and intervene where required Support general operative duties when not stationed at the gate Attend all site briefings, toolbox talks and safety forums Requirements Essential: Valid CSCS Labour Card Traffic Marshall qualification (CPCS or equivalent) Experience carrying out gate duties Ability to work independently and as part of a wider site team Strong communication skills and confidence to manage vehicle movements Desirable: Previous experience on large civil engineering or infrastructure projects
