Civil Site Supervisor

Rubicon Consulting is currently recruiting for a Civil Site Supervisor on a 6 month rolling contract based in Yorkshire. Role Summary We are seeking an experienced and proactive Civil Site Supervisor to oversee the construction and installation works for a 70km cable route across Yorkshire. The successful candidate will be responsible for supervising daily site operations, ensuring works are delivered safely, on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards. This role requires strong leadership, civil engineering experience (preferably within utilities or infrastructure), and the ability to coordinate multiple work fronts across a large geographical area. Key Responsibilities * Supervise and coordinate all civil works along the 70km cable route, including trenching, duct installation, joint bays, HDD crossings, reinstatement, and associated infrastructure. * Manage subcontractors and direct labour teams to ensure works are completed safely and efficiently. * Ensure compliance with project specifications, drawings, and technical standards. * Oversee temporary works, traffic management, and environmental controls. * Conduct daily site briefings and toolbox talks. * Monitor progress against programme and report updates to the Project Manager. * Ensure all works are carried out in accordance with HSEQ requirements and company policies. * Identify and resolve on-site issues promptly to minimise delays. * Maintain accurate site records, including RAMS, permits, inspections, and daily diaries. * Liaise with local authorities, landowners, utility providers, and other stakeholders as required. * Ensure reinstatement works meet local authority standards and contractual requirements. Health, Safety & Environment * Enforce strict adherence to Health & Safety legislation and CDM regulations. * Review and implement Risk Assessments and Method Statements (RAMS). * Carry out site inspections and safety audits. * Promote a strong safety culture across all teams. * Ensure environmental and ecological requirements are met. Requirements Required Qualifications & Experience * Proven experience as a Civil Site Supervisor on large-scale infrastructure or utilities projects. * Experience working on cable routes, power, telecoms, or utility installation projects preferred. * Strong knowledge of civil engineering practices including trenching, ducting, reinstatement, and HDD. * SMSTS (Site Management Safety Training Scheme) – Essential. * CSCS Card (Supervisory/Management level). * First Aid at Work. * NRSWA (desirable). * Full UK Driving Licence. Skills & Competencies * Strong leadership and team management skills. * Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement abilities. * Ability to manage multiple work fronts across a large geographic area. * Strong organisational and problem-solving skills. * Commercial awareness and cost control understanding. * IT literate (Microsoft Office, project reporting systems).
