Leaving Care Specialist (Personal Advisor) Location: Bradford Rate: £20 – £23 per hour Contract: Ongoing agency contract Employer: City of Bradford Metropolitan District Council – Children’s Services We are currently recruiting Leaving Care Specialists (Personal Advisors) to join the Specialist Services – Leaving Care Team within the City of Bradford Metropolitan District Council. This is an excellent opportunity to make a real difference to the lives of young people transitioning from care into adulthood. The Role You will work with young people aged 16–25 who are currently looked after or have recently left care, supporting them to achieve independence, stability, and positive life outcomes. You will provide practical, emotional, and advisory support while working within statutory frameworks and safeguarding procedures. Key Responsibilities * Support young people leaving care across key areas including housing, health, education, employment, training, benefits and wellbeing * Assess needs and develop Pathway Plans and Personal Action Plans with young people * Empower young people to make informed decisions and self-advocate, advocating on their behalf where necessary * Build trusted relationships and provide consistent, person-centred support * Work collaboratively with internal teams, partner agencies, families and community networks * Respond appropriately to crisis situations and ensure safeguarding responsibilities are met * Maintain accurate records and reports using electronic systems (e.g. LCS) * Support young people through key transitions into adulthood * Attend reviews, planning meetings, and other professional forums as required * Work flexibly, including some evenings and weekends Essential Requirements * Minimum 2 years’ experience working with children and young people * NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in a relevant field * Experience supporting young people in a one-to-one or group setting * Knowledge of adolescent development and issues affecting care leavers * Experience working in partnership with other professionals and agencies * Strong understanding of safeguarding, policies, and procedures within Children’s Services * Ability to communicate fluently in English with young people and families * Confident using electronic recording and reporting systems * Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle (or driver/vehicle for work purposes) * Flexible approach to working hours
