Finance Assistant

A well-established and reputable business in York is seeking a Finance Assistant to join their team on a permanent, full-time basis! As the Finance Assistant, your role will include (but not be limited to): Generate customer invoices and credit adjustments in line with internal guidelines Reconcile daily transactions and bank activity, highlighting any inconsistencies promptly Follow up on overdue accounts to support smooth cash flow operations Administer petty cash and assist with posting journals and compiling financial summaries Prepare Excel-based schedules and maintain the integrity of financial records Provide flexible, ad hoc administrative and office support as required Opportunity to get involved with reporting and gain exposure to management accounts preparation and related finance tasksTo succeed in this Finance Assistant role, you should ideally have: A minimum of 2 years’ finance experience Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise and manage multiple tasks Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in all work A proactive attitude, reliability, and clear communication skills Confidence to use initiative and work independently Proficiency in Excel; experience with Sage 200 is desirable but not essentialWe would be keen to speak with individuals who are currently in a Finance Assistant, Finance Administrator, Accounts Assistant, Accounts Officer, or similar role. You will need to be a team player who is confident speaking on the phone, with an excellent telephone manner.
