Speech and Language Therapist ASAP Start Fully Remote Role £44,000 - £49,000 Permanent (Employed directly by the school) Forever Education is supporting a unique independent Special Educational Needs (SEN) group based in London, which provides therapeutic education for children and young people with special educational and neurodiverse learning needs. The school is seeking a passionate, dynamic, and experienced Speech and Language Therapist to join its specialist online school service. You will deliver therapeutic provision to a paediatric caseload, with pupils (aged 7-19) across the UK who are unable to access mainstream education. You will provide speech and communication assessments and interventions remotely to children and young people who access their learning hours through our online provision. Our Occupational Therapists, as part of the online multi-discipline therapy team, support staff to deliver a therapeutic learning environment for all pupils. Additionally, our therapists hold a caseload of children with significant trauma and adverse childhood experience who require a more specific, bespoke, and at times intensive, input. To ensure a consistent therapeutic practice across the provision, you will work closely with the online teaching and inclusion teams to meet the needs of the young people they work with and support them to engage in learning; this can include providing advice on moderating the online learning environment, as well as scaffolding a therapeutic understanding & culture through training, workshops and general promotion of therapeutic practice to all staff. JOB DESCRIPTION * Liaise closely with key colleagues, the multi-disciplinary clinical team, and managers to provide an intensive online speech and language therapy service for a caseload of children enrolled within the Online School. * Identify all children and young people who have Speech and Language Therapy (SLT) assessment and intervention identified as a need on their Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP) and ensure that this is delivered effectively and in a timely manner. * Conduct virtual observations of pupils in their online learning environments to identify those who would benefit from SLT input, including students who do not have this identified on their EHCP. * Engage pupils in innovative, helpful, therapeutic, and meaningful online activities that support them in engaging in learning and reaching their full potential. * Undertake highly specialised Speech and Language Therapy assessment by identifying and administering appropriate online assessment tools to determine and understand pupils' needs, producing comprehensive assessment reports. Assess and manage the complex communication needs of children and young people in an online setting, supporting them to feel safe, engaged, and able to participate in group learning * Work collaboratively with parents/carers, education, health, social care, and other multidisciplinary colleagues to assess, design, and develop evidence-based intervention and management plans that can be implemented within the online school environment and the child's home. * Provide training and support to school staff on utilising SLT strategies effectively in an online learning environment to enhance pupil communication and engagement. * Encourage self-awareness, exploration, and reflection on feelings, relationships, and communication challenges through therapy interventions PERSON SPECIFICATION * A champion of therapeutic support and advocate for young people, with similar values to ours: Expect the very best from each other; Develop a strong work ethic; Respect and appreciate all difference; Include everyone and exclude no one; Listen to and involve everyone; Never give up on each other! * Resilient and robust, role modelling outstanding professionalism. * Hold HCPC registration with a recognised Speech & Language Therapy degree qualification and further professional development accreditations. * Substantial demonstrable experience in successfully working with vulnerable young people, those with complex mental health needs and/or those with challenging behaviours. * The ability to plan and coordinate sessions online, proficient with communication and supporting sensory progress for pupils through universal and intensive therapeutic offers. * Proficient digital skills, including a good understanding of IT systems and the ability to use them effectively as a member of an online school. * Creative and innovative, whilst maintaining principles of clinical governance. * Substantial experience of working with highly complex and high-risk children with social, emotional and mental health difficulties (SEMH) and/or on the Autistic Spectrum.
