Role: Senior Site Manager Location: London Salary: Circa 100K Industry: Construction/ Engineering ROLE OVERVIEW The Senior Site Manager is responsible for the day-to-day leadership of a construction site, ensuring works are delivered safely, on programme, within budget, and to the required quality standards. This is a hands-on leadership role managing site teams and subcontractors, coordinating activities across trades, and maintaining strong governance across safety, quality, and reporting. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Site Leadership & Delivery • Lead daily site operations to ensure safe, efficient, and high-quality project delivery. • Manage and coordinate site teams, supervisors, engineers, and subcontractors. • Maintain site setup, logistics, welfare, access, and general site organisation. • Chair regular site meetings, briefings, and coordination sessions. Programme & Planning • Manage short-term planning, sequencing, and daily/weekly work schedules. • Monitor progress against programme and implement corrective actions where required. • Ensure labour, plant, and materials are planned and available to meet milestones. Subcontractor & Supply Chain Management • Coordinate subcontractor activities, ensuring productivity, quality, and safe working practices. • Review and manage RAMS, permits, inductions, and compliance documentation. • Monitor progress and performance, escalating risks and constraints appropriately. • Support procurement and delivery planning to avoid delays and maintain continuity of work. Quality & Compliance • Ensure works are completed to drawings, specification, and agreed standards. • Implement site QA processes, inspections, and record keeping (ITPs, checklists, test results, sign-offs). • Identify and manage defects, snagging, and quality close-out to support successful handover. • Coordinate statutory inspections and compliance requirements where applicable. Health, Safety & Environment • Promote a strong safety culture and ensure compliance with relevant legislation and site standards. • Deliver toolbox talks, briefings, and regular site safety checks/audits. • Investigate incidents/near misses and ensure corrective actions are implemented. • Maintain high standards of housekeeping and environmental management. Reporting & Stakeholder Coordination • Provide clear daily/weekly reporting on progress, resourcing, safety, quality, and risks. • Liaise with the wider project team and relevant stakeholders to support timely decisions. • Maintain accurate site records and trackers to support governance and audit readiness. • Support commissioning, completion, and handover activities including documentation and close-out. ESSENTIAL EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS • Proven experience in a Site Manager or Senior Site Manager role within construction. • SMSTS (or equivalent) and a valid CSCS card. • Strong understanding of site health & safety requirements and compliance processes. • Demonstrable experience managing subcontractors and multi-trade activities. • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications. • Strong leadership, communication, and organisational skills. • IT literate with good working knowledge of Microsoft Office. • Right to work in the UK and flexibility to work on site-based projects. DESIRABLE • First Aid at Work. • Qualification in construction management or a relevant technical discipline. • Experience working on projects with multiple interfaces (e.g., structural, fit-out, or MEP coordination)
