Transport Planner – (Pallet Network / Groupage) | Birmingham | £30,000–£33,500 A busy, well-established logistics operation in Birmingham is hiring a Transport Planner for the morning shift. This is an office-based role where you’ll plan and control daily deliveries/collections across a pallet network / groupage operation, keeping things efficient, compliant and on time. The basics * Job title: Transport Planner (Morning Shift) * Location: Birmingham (office-based) * Salary: £30,000 – £33,500 (depending on experience) * Hours: Monday–Friday 06:00–15:00 / 14:00- 22:00 * Holiday: 28 days What you’ll be doing (Transport Planner) * Build daily delivery and collection plans to maximise vehicle utilisation and reduce empty miles * Plan and manage trunking / pallet network activity (manifesting, departures, timing, updates) * Monitor the operation live and re-plan quickly when delays or changes hit * Keep everything compliant with Drivers’ Hours and Working Time Directive (WTD) * Chase and manage shortages/late collections, update stakeholders, and protect service levels * Liaise with drivers, hubs, subcontractors and internal teams to keep KPIs on track * Use planning data to spot improvements in cost-to-serve, route efficiency and daily performance * Deliver clear shift handovers so the next planner has full visibility What we’re looking for * Experience as a Transport Planner / Transport Operator / Transport Co-ordinator in a transport environment * Strong understanding of WTD + Drivers’ Hours * Experience in pallet network / groupage (e.g., Pallet Track, Pall-Ex, Palletline or similar) * Comfortable using a TMS (VIGO/Contrado beneficial) and confident with Excel * Strong organisation, calm under pressure, good decision-making in live operations * Helpful bonus: knowledge of pallet weights/dimensions and Birmingham postcode areas/banding Why apply * Permanent role, Monday–Friday mornings * Competitive salary band with progression potential * Busy, stable operation where planning is valued and supported Apply Apply with your CV and we’ll come back to you quickly.
