Building Performance Engineer (Controls / BMS Background) Location: EC2, London (Site Based) Salary: Up to £80,000 Are you a Controls Engineer or BMS Engineer ready to step into a broader Building Performance Engineer role with real ownership, development, and long-term career upside? This site-based Building Performance Engineer position is ideal for a technically strong BMS or Controls Engineer who wants to move beyond day-to-day controls work into building performance, energy optimisation, smart buildings, and Net Zero Carbon delivery. The Role As a Building Performance Engineer, you will use your hands-on BMS expertise to optimise HVAC and electrical systems, ensure assets operate in line with design intent, and drive measurable improvements in building performance. Key responsibilities include: * Acting as the technical expert for BMS and HVAC systems * Using TREND or Niagara systems to optimise plant performance and energy consumption * Carrying out deep-dive audits and identifying performance and design gaps * Implementing performance-based interventions to reduce energy waste * Supporting smart building systems, analytics, and data-led optimisation initiatives * Managing BMS change control, access governance, and operational compliance This role maintains strong technical depth while expanding your influence beyond controls. Career Progression & Development This Building Performance Engineer role is deliberately structured as a development and progression role You will be supported to: * Progress into a Senior Building Performance Engineer or Technical Management role * Develop deep expertise in energy performance, Net Zero Carbon delivery, and building optimisation * Become a recognised Subject Matter Expert in BMS, smart buildings, or energy systems Training & Certification You will have access to, and support for: * Niagara Framework certification and advanced training * TREND advanced engineering and optimisation courses * Training in energy management systems, analytics platforms, and smart building technologies * Exposure to Net Zero Carbon frameworks, energy reduction strategies, and performance reporting * Development in data-led building performance, fault diagnostics, and optimisation tools * Participation in FMEA and reliability-centred maintenance methodologies * This role is ideal for an engineer who wants to future-proof their career by moving into smart buildings, energy performance, and sustainability leadership About You You’ll be well suited to this Building Performance Engineer role if you have: * Strong hands-on experience as a BMS Engineer or Controls Engineer * Experience with TREND and/or Niagara Framework * A City & Guilds or NVQ Level 3 qualification in Electrical Engineering or Building Services * Solid working knowledge of HVAC systems and building services plant * A genuine interest in building performance, energy optimisation, and sustainability * Strong fault-finding skills and the ability to communicate clearly with stakeholders What’s on Offer * Salary up to £80,000 * Site-based role in EC2, London * High-profile, technically complex environment * Clear progression beyond traditional BMS/controls roles * Funded training, certification, and long-term career development
