Site Cleaner

Job Title: Janitor Location: Chilton, Ferryhill, County Durham The Role Jackson Hogg is recruiting on behalf of our client for a reliable and hardworking Janitor to support the day-to-day upkeep of a busy site in Chilton, Ferryhill. Reporting to site management, this role plays an important part in maintaining a clean, safe, and well-presented environment for employees and visitors. Key Responsibilities * Daily cleaning of common areas including offices, restrooms, corridors, and break rooms * Sweeping, mopping, and vacuuming floors * Dusting and wiping down surfaces such as windowsills, desks, and countertops * Emptying general waste and recycling bins, ensuring correct disposal practices * Basic grounds maintenance, including outdoor bins and recycling areas * Carrying out minor repairs and simple handyman tasks within capability (e.g. changing light bulbs, fixing small leaks, minor paint touch-ups) * Assisting with deep cleaning tasks when required (e.g. carpet cleaning, floor waxing, window washing) * Preparing rooms for meetings and supporting cleaning before or after site events * Supporting basic building maintenance internally and externally * Following all site health, safety, and environmental procedures * Reporting any damage, defects, or safety hazards identified Candidate Requirements * Dependable, practical, and detail-focused approach * Basic understanding of cleaning products and equipment (preferred but not essential) * Basic understanding of minor repair or handyman tasks, or willingness to learn * Physically able to carry out cleaning duties, including lifting, bending, and standing * Strong time management skills and ability to work independently * Positive attitude toward maintaining high standards of cleanliness and hygiene What’s on Offer * 16–20 hours per week, Monday to Friday * 4-hour shifts (flexible schedule by agreement) * £12.21 per hour * Weekly pay * 23 days holiday + 8 bank holidays per year (Jan–Dec holiday year) * Safe working environment with clear health & safety procedures
