Facilities Technician – Rail Depot Maintenance Location: Cambridge (with travel to Colchester, Ilford, Norwich & Clacton) Salary: £48,000 + £2,600 on-call allowance + overtime Shift Pattern: 3 weeks afternoons / 1 week on-call (35 hours per week) Contract: Full-time, permanent The Opportunity We’re recruiting a Facilities Technician to support the maintenance and safe running of busy rail engineering depots. This is a hands-on, multi-skilled technical role working across electrical, mechanical and building services disciplines. Your main base will be Cambridge, with occasional travel to other sites using a company vehicle. What You’ll Be Doing As a Facilities Technician, you’ll carry out reactive and planned maintenance across a range of depot systems, including: Electrical systems and lighting Plumbing and general building fabric Fire alarms, fire suppression & emergency systems Security systems and alarms Plant equipment (compressors, pumps, HVAC, etc.) Ensuring depot areas remain safe, compliant and operational Shift Pattern & On-Call Details 3 weeks: afternoon shifts 1 week: on-call Allowance: £2,600 per year Call-out Bonus: Paid a minimum of 3 hours at standard hourly rate Safety rest: 12-hour minimum rest period after call-out before returning to work (safety-critical requirement) What We’re Looking For Facilities maintenance Building services Electrical, mechanical or plumbing maintenance Multi-skilled engineering roles You should be comfortable working independently, making technical decisions, and travelling between depot sites when required.
