Electrical Shift Engineer HVAP


Purpose of the Role The Calibration Technician plays a critical role in delivering high-quality calibration and instrumentation support within a regulated, mission-critical environment. During the initial phase, the role will work closely with the principal contractor to develop documentation and support the client’s calibration and instrumentation requirements. Once the client campus becomes fully operational, the position will transition into a steady-state role, responsible for day-to-day service delivery, maintenance of critical test equipment, coordination of third-party calibration services, and ensuring system availability, accuracy, and regulatory compliance. Key Responsibilities Calibration & Instrumentation Services Deliver comprehensive control and instrumentation calibration services across the site Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and client-requested calibration activities Diagnose, rectify, and plan remedial works for faults on field instrumentationProcedures, Planning & Maintenance Develop, implement, and maintain site calibration procedures and maintenance strategies Define, manage, and review equipment tolerances for plant and process systems Identify test equipment requirements and suitable workspaces for calibration activities Maximise plant and user equipment availability through effective planned maintenanceTechnical & Project Support Provide technical expertise to support projects, commissioning, and system handover activities Lead root cause analysis (RCA) and A3 investigations, producing clear and structured reports Initiate and receive Permits to Work in line with site procedures and safety requirementsAsset, Spares & Supplier Management Identify spare parts requirements, raise purchase requests, and manage stock levels Coordinate the dispatch and return of test equipment to third-party calibration suppliers in line with CMMS schedules Ensure all work orders are completed within contractual performance metrics and agreed timescalesCollaboration & Support Work closely with the Systems Manager and site management team to support operational objectives Provide cross-account and cross-team technical support when requiredAccountabilities Reporting to: Systems Manager Key Interfaces: Site Management Team Direct Reports: None Budget Responsibility: None (financial awareness required)Person Specification Education Good general education with strong written and spoken English Basic mathematical competencyTraining & Qualifications Completed formal apprenticeship in Calibration and Instrumentation HNC/HND (or equivalent) in a relevant engineering discipline cGxP training (current Good Practice standards within regulated environments)Experience (Essential) Minimum of 3 years’ experience in calibration maintenance within a regulated industry (e.g. pharmaceutical, food processing, laboratory environments) Proven experience developing, writing, and maintaining calibration proceduresSkills & Aptitudes Strong verbal and written communication skills High level of IT literacy, including experience using CMMS platforms Structured, methodical approach to fault-finding and technical documentationPersonal Attributes Customer-focused with a commitment to high standards of service delivery Calm under pressure, able to make sound decisions in demanding situations Physically fit, capable of using vertical access equipment Comfortable working at height and on roofs when required Team-oriented, with a collaborative and professional approach
