Product Development Engineer / Manager (CNC)

Mazco Recruitment is working in partnership with a well-established and forward-thinking manufacturing business to recruit a Product Development Engineer / Assistant Manager. This is a key role within the organisation, offering genuine long-term progression into a management position for the right individual. The Role You will play a critical part in new product development and introduction, acting as a technical lead across design, machining, tooling, and customer interaction. This role combines hands-on engineering with project ownership and leadership responsibility. Key Responsibilities * New Product Development (NPD) and New Product Introduction (NPI) * Full project management responsibility from concept to production * Product and tool design using SolidWorks * Creation and control of engineering drawings * CAM programming using FeatureCAM (or similar) * Machining strategy development and process optimisation * Tool trials, lifecycle testing, and validation activities * High-level inspection and documentation (CMM, ISIR, FAIRs) * Creation of work instructions and technical documentation * Acting as the customer technical lead within Product Development / R&D * Direct communication with customers throughout the development process * Involvement in non-conformance investigations, corrective actions, and continuous improvement projects * Supporting and developing team members, acting as a mentor and role model Required Skills & Experience * Strong working knowledge of SolidWorks, machining principles, CAM (FeatureCAM or similar), and tool design * Time-served apprenticeship with HNC / HND / Degree in Engineering * Excellent IT skills, including Excel (formulas), chart creation, and presentations * Confident working across multiple teams while maintaining strong professional relationships * Ability to lead, mentor, and influence others * Experience using a variety of databases and manufacturing systems * Organised, proactive, and capable of managing multiple projects simultaneously Desirable Experience * Previous exposure to rubber moulding technology would be highly advantageous What’s on Offer * £50,000 – £60,000 salary depending on experience * Day shift role with excellent work-life balance * Clear development plan into a management role within 3 years * Opportunity to influence product strategy and technical direction * Stable, long-term position within a growing business
