General Foreman – Public Realm / Highways 📍 St Helens, Merseyside 💷 £50,000 – £60,000 DOE + package 🏗 Long-term public realm & highways improvement works A well-established civil engineering contractor operating across the North West is looking to appoint an experienced General Foreman to support delivery of public realm and highways improvement works on a key local authority scheme in the St Helens area. The business delivers a wide range of infrastructure, highways and public realm projects for public-sector clients. This is a site-based role offering stability, structured delivery, and the opportunity to take a leading role on a well-managed urban highways project. The Role Reporting to the Project Manager and Site Management team, you will be responsible for the day-to-day supervision and coordination of site activities, ensuring works are delivered safely, efficiently and to programme, including: * Supervising site gangs, subcontractors and plant * Coordinating daily works and short-term planning * Ensuring works are carried out in line with RAMS, permits and HSEQ requirements * Managing labour, materials and plant on site * Supporting programme delivery and resolving site issues * Liaising with engineers, site management and client representatives * Maintaining quality standards across all works Project Scope * Public realm and highways improvement works * Kerbing, paving, surfacing and footways * Drainage and associated civils works * Works within live highway and urban environments * Traffic management and pedestrian interface About You * Proven experience working as a General Foreman or on highways or public realm projects * Strong background in kerbing, paving, surfacing and drainage works * Experience working within live highway or urban environments * Confident supervising multiple work fronts and site teams * Strong safety leadership and communication skills Tickets / Qualifications * SSSTS or SMSTS * CSCS * First Aid What’s on Offer * £50,000 – £60,000 basic salary (DOE) * Competitive package (vehicle or allowance, pension, etc.) * Stable workload on public realm and highways schemes * Site-based role in the St Helens area with a North West regional contractor * Secure position within a reputable and established business
