ICA / PLC Engineer – UK Water Industry A well-established and growing engineering business is seeking an experienced ICA / PLC Engineer to support delivery across UK water and wastewater projects. This is a hands-on role for someone who understands how water assets actually run — not just how they look on paper. You’ll be joining a delivery-focused team with a strong pipeline of AMP works, offering long-term stability and technically interesting projects rather than churn-and-burn contracting. The Role You’ll be involved from concept through to commissioning, taking ownership of ICA systems on live water utility sites. Key responsibilities: * Design, development and implementation of ICA and PLC control systems * PLC programming using platforms such as Siemens S7, Allen Bradley, Mitsubishi * Support and carry out installation and on-site commissioning * Fault finding, diagnostics and reactive maintenance across ICA systems * Production of Functional Design Specifications (FDS), I/O schedules and test documentation * Collaboration with electrical and mechanical disciplines * Interpretation of P&IDs, electrical drawings and control schematics * Site surveys, RAMS and compliance with H&S standards What We’re Looking For * Proven experience as an ICA or PLC Engineer within the UK water industry * AMP project experience highly desirable * Strong PLC programming capability * Ability to produce clear, structured FDS documentation * Familiarity with telemetry, instrumentation and automation in water/wastewater environments * Practical, hands-on engineering mindset * Full UK driving licence and flexibility to attend sites Desirable (Not Essential) * SCADA / HMI development experience * 18th Edition (BS 7671) * ECS card * Experience with CAD for control panel or schematic drawings What’s On Offer * Paid overtime * Company pension * 25 days holiday + bank holidays * Free parking / on-site parking * Long-term role within a growing water-sector specialist * Varied projects, minimal bureaucracy, engineers listened to Apply If you’re an ICA / PLC Engineer who knows the UK water industry and wants a role where engineering judgement still matters, this is worth a serious look.
