SEN Teaching Assistant


SEN Teaching Assistant (Mornings Only) Location: Barnet, London Pay: £50–£55 per day (AM only) Start: ASAP Contract: Part-time, long-term, term-time only Are you a caring and confident SEN Teaching Assistant looking for a rewarding morning-only role in a welcoming primary setting? We’re seeking a dedicated SEN TA to support a small group of Year 1 pupils in a lovely school environment in Friern Barnet. This is a fantastic opportunity to make a real difference early in the school day, helping pupils build focus, confidence and positive learning habits. Some children may display autistic traits and social communication needs, so a calm, consistent and nurturing approach is key. Your Role Working closely with the class teacher and SENCO, you will: • Provide 1:1 and small-group support to pupils needing help with focus, boundaries and social interaction • Use a firm yet compassionate approach to encourage engagement and independence • Support emotional regulation through routines, praise and clear expectations • Track progress and contribute to effective behaviour strategies The Ideal Candidate • Has experience supporting children with SEN, particularly autism or social communication needs • Is patient, reliable and proactive, with strong behaviour management skills • Enjoys working in EYFS/KS1 and can commit to Monday–Friday mornings long term Why Apply? • Family-friendly 8:30am–12:30pm hours • Supportive team and positive working environment • Great experience for those pursuing careers in education, SEN or psychology Why work via Teach Now?
