Solar PV Maintenance Engineer Permanent | Full-Time London & South East Optima is recruiting on behalf of a well-established, award-winning renewable energy and electrical services provider operating across sustainability, energy efficiency, electrical and mechanical services, and life safety systems. Due to continued growth and a strong forward order book, our client is seeking an experienced Solar PV Maintenance Engineer to support maintenance, upgrades, and installations across a diverse portfolio of high-end residential, educational, commercial, and industrial sites throughout London and the South East. The Role You will join a highly skilled team responsible for the installation, maintenance, fault-finding, and optimisation of Solar PV systems. The role includes planned maintenance, reactive repairs, and system upgrades, with a strong focus on quality, safety, and customer satisfaction. Key Responsibilities * Installation, maintenance, fault-finding, and repair of Solar PV systems and battery storage solutions * Preventative and corrective maintenance on inverters, modules, and associated electrical components * Completion of Solar PV upgrades and system improvements to a high standard * Leading works on site, ensuring safe, efficient delivery and high-quality workmanship * Carrying out site surveys, risk assessments, and ensuring compliance with Health and Safety requirements * Accurate completion of service reports, work records, timesheets, and test documentation * Professional communication with clients, site contacts, and internal teams Skills and Experience Required * 18th Edition Wiring Regulations and inspection and testing experience (C&G 2391 or 2394/2395 or equivalent) * Minimum 1 year’s experience installing and maintaining Solar PV systems * Relevant Solar PV / EESS qualifications and strong fault-finding capability * Sound technical knowledge of PV systems, inverters, panels, and mounting solutions * ECS Gold Card and full UK Driving Licence * SSSTS, IPAF, or PASMA (desirable but not essential) The Ideal Candidate * Professional, customer-focused, and an effective communicator * Organised, punctual, and able to manage workload independently * Flexible, proactive, and adaptable with a strong work ethic * Takes pride in presentation and quality of workmanship What’s on Offer * Salary £35,000 to £46,000 per annum, dependent on experience * Overtime paid at time and a half for evenings and Saturdays, double time for Sundays and Bank Holidays * Company vehicle and fuel card, mobile phone and PDA * Pension scheme (3% employer / 5% employee contribution) * 20 days holiday plus Bank Holidays, rising annually to 25 days plus Bank Holidays * Death in service benefit, full PPE and uniform, ongoing training, and structured career development * Long-term stability within a growing, renewables-focused organisation
