This hands‑on, workshop‑based Depot Engineer role is responsible for maintaining, repairing and preparing critical power assets including loadbanks, transformers, generators, battery energy storage units (BESS) & UPS units - They're not expecting you to be an expert in everything and extensive training will be provided on products you are unfamiliar with. Package * £40,000 - £50,000 per/annum * Standard hours: workshop‑based, Monday - Friday (day shift) * Generaous holiday package (with the option to purchase/sell holiday leave) * Award‑winning training, professional development and clear progression pathways * Life assurance and contributory pension scheme * Retail discounts and employee recognition awards * All tools, PPE and calibrated test equipment provided * Supportive culture with a strong focus on safety and wellbeing Responsibilities & Requirements * Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM), diagnostics, repairs and modifications across critical power equipment such as Generators and Loadbanks. * Functionally test all equipment post‑repair and pre‑dispatch to ensure 100% operational readiness, completing job cards, service reports and test certificates accurately. * Prepare and kit equipment for specific projects, collaborating with yard teams to ensure all components are present and correct. * Fault‑find and troubleshoot returned equipment, identifying root causes and implementing effective repairs. * Maintain clean, safe and organised workshop and yard areas; manage tools and test equipment, ensuring calibration and good working order. * Provide remote technical support to field service teams; assist with parts sourcing and management of workshop stock levels. * Support safe loading/unloading activities and verify equipment condition upon return from hire. * Adhere to all Health, Safety and Environmental standards; participate in risk assessments and use appropriate PPE; promptly report near misses, defects or hazards. Requirements: * Proven service/maintenance/workshop engineering experience in power generation, critical power or a related electrical field (3+ years preferred). * Strong electrical background with the ability to read schematics and fault‑find on complex three‑phase systems. * Hands‑on experience maintaining and repairing at least some of Generators, loadbanks, transformers, UPS systems, PDUs and associated cabling/connectors. * Competent with electrical test equipment (e.g., multimeters, clamp meters, insulation testers) and confident producing service documentation. * Proactive problem‑solver with excellent attention to detail and strong ownership of quality and safety. * Full, valid driver’s licence. Desirable qualifications & skills * Formal electrical qualification (e.g., City & Guilds / NVQ Level 3 or equivalent). * 18th Edition, Testing & Inspection (2391) qualification. * Working knowledge of H&S protocols in workshop environments. * FLT (Forklift Truck) licence.
