NDT Level 2 Technician Location: Romford, Essex Salary: £35,000–£42,000 per annum Industry: Aerospace & Defence Recruiter: Actio Recruitment Ltd Actio Recruitment Ltd is supporting a leading aerospace manufacturer in Romford in their search for an experienced NDT Level 2 Technician. This position plays a key role in ensuring aerospace components meet stringent quality and compliance standards through non‑destructive testing, primarily Fluorescent Penetrant Inspection (FPI). Key Responsibilities Non‑Destructive Testing (NDT) * Perform Fluorescent Penetrant Inspection (FPI) on aerospace components in line with customer specifications, engineering drawings, and industry standards. * Complete daily equipment checks, system calibrations, and process verifications to maintain compliance. * Interpret customer orders, technical drawings, and process specifications accurately. * Produce clear, accurate inspection records and maintain full traceability documentation. * Identify, document, and report non‑conformances, recommending corrective actions where appropriate. Facility & Process Management * Maintain the NDT facility to NADCAP standards and customer approval requirements. * Ensure correct handling, storage, and disposal of chemicals and testing materials. * Monitor and manage consumable stock levels, arranging replenishment when required. * Keep the NDT area clean, organised, and audit‑ready at all times. Quality & Production Support * Support Quality and Production teams with incoming, in‑process, and final inspections. * Verify that components meet all quality and process requirements before and after testing. * Collaborate with production teams to ensure preceding operations are completed correctly. * Promote a “right first time” culture to minimise rework and improve efficiency. * Follow all health and safety procedures, particularly around chemical handling. * Report hazards, defective equipment, or safety concerns immediately. * Participate in audits and continuous improvement activities. Experience Required * Proven NDT experience within aerospace manufacturing. * Experience working in a NADCAP‑approved NDT environment. * Competent in using precision measuring tools and inspection techniques. * Strong ability to read and interpret complex engineering drawings. * Solid understanding of FPI processes and best practices. * Knowledge of aerospace quality standards such as AS9100 and NADCAP. Qualifications * EN4179 Level 2 (or PCN Level 2 equivalent) in Liquid Penetrant Inspection. * Valid certification with current approval scope. * Computer literacy for documentation and record‑keeping.
