Housing Officer

Job Title: Housing Officer Location: Covering Okehampton/Tavistock/Cullompton Hours: 37 hours per week, Monday – Friday Contract Length: ASAP – April 2026 Pay Rate: £20.05 per hour About the Role We are recruiting an experienced and proactive Housing Officer on a temporary basis to cover the Okehampton, Tavistock and Cullompton areas. This is a front-line, customer-focused role where you will act as the primary relationship manager for residents. You will be responsible for delivering high-quality housing management services, responding to tenancy enquiries, managing community standards, and addressing tenancy breaches. The role also includes involvement in new housing developments and working closely with internal teams and external partners to create safe, welcoming communities. Key Responsibilities Deliver outstanding customer service, responding to tenancy enquiries, permissions and housing management matters Carry out tenancy sign-ups and property viewings, ensuring compliance with tenancy agreements Manage tenancy breaches, including safeguarding responsibilities Oversee estate standards and housing service contracts to ensure value for money and high-quality environments Lead resident engagement activities and support community development within your patch to promote sustainable neighbourhoodsAbout You To be successful in this role, you will have: Proven experience working within social housing, including tenancy, estate and housing management CIH Level 4 qualification, or willingness to work towards it Strong interpersonal and communication skills Excellent organisational skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities A strong customer focus with a drive to improve resident satisfaction A full UK driving licence and access to a suitable vehicle Safeguarding & Compliance This role requires an Enhanced DBS check (Adults & Children).
