Senior Civil Engineer - Luxembourg

Type: Permanent or Fixed-Term Contract Hours: Full-Time Salary: Competitive Location: Luxembourg My client is seeking an ambitious and highly capable Senior Civil Engineer to lead the construction and technical design stage of a major new project based in Luxembourg. About the Role This position will focus on supporting the construction phase of a major Data Centre, providing a mix of on-site and hybrid technical support. As the local civil engineering lead on site, you will act as the design/client representative, providing technical guidance, reviewing contractor submissions, and ensuring compliance with Luxembourg standards and local construction practices. Flexible working arrangements are available when not on site. You will also collaborate closely with wider design teams in London and Barcelona. Key Responsibilities Serve as the local senior civil engineering lead on site during construction. Ensure full compliance with Luxembourg standards, codes, and permitting requirements. Conduct site inspections, record observations, and produce clear engineering reports. Provide technical review and sign-off in line with project requirements and local practice. Support late-stage detailed design queries, coordinating with the UK design team. Identify risks, propose mitigation strategies, and safeguard client and design intent. Review structural work (substructure and superstructure) alongside structural engineers to ensure compliance with design and codes.Technical Skills & Experience Comprehensive understanding of civil engineering principles and relevant regulations/standards. Strong capability in site assessment, earthworks, drainage, pavements, roads, and stormwater hydraulics. Experience with below-ground utilities: ducts, pipes, chambers, and specification coordination. Strong knowledge of Luxembourg engineering standards and experience applying them on design and construction projects. Willingness to apply LUXE civil engineering standards (e.g., SuDS Manual, DMRB, Sewers for Adoption, BS/EN standards), with support provided. Proficiency in AutoCAD, Civil 3D, InfoDrainage, and other relevant design/modelling software.About You Based in Luxembourg with experience independently leading medium-sized projects (~£5-10m construction value). Ideally experienced with larger industrial projects (>£20m) in Luxembourg as part of a multidisciplinary team. Familiarity with LUXE standard contract conditions, change control, and early warning procedures. Experience managing stakeholder engagement and approvals, including technical, environmental, and planning authorities.
