Electrical Commissioning Engineer -Nuclear


Senior Commissioning Engineer (Contract) AWE Burghfield £60 per hour - Outside IR35 5 days per week on site SC Clearance required (minimum) We are currently seeking an experienced Senior Commissioning Engineer to support commissioning activities on a major project at AWE Burghfield. This is a long-term contract opportunity for a hands-on professional with strong electrical and control systems commissioning experience. Role Overview Reporting to the Commissioning Manager, you will play a key role in the commissioning of electrical and control systems, working closely with construction teams, other trades, and the client to ensure safe, compliant, and successful project delivery. Key Responsibilities Minimum 5 years' hands-on commissioning experience, including electrical systems and control panels Loop testing, fault finding, and strong working knowledge of process control systems Support the Construction Manager with supervision of on-site electrical installation works in line with design documentation and client standards Commissioning of PLC control systems, HMI and SCADA during initial commissioning phases (Siemens S7 - TIA Portal experience essential) Fault finding and modifications within control panels Electrical testing, fault diagnosis, calibration, and instrumentation setup including: Pressure transducers Flow meters Differential pressure and vacuum systems Pneumatics Experience with leak testing (e.g. Parjo testing, pressure drop testing) Experience conducting load testing Work collaboratively with multiple trades during installation and commissioning of new plant and equipment Ensure all customer and project requirements are met or exceeded during commissioning and handover Deliver training on new and existing equipment during and after commissioning activities Completion of Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs) for installed systems Accurate recording of as-built information and updates to drawings and commissioning documentation Minimum Clearance SC Clearance (must be current or eligible) Qualifications & Certifications Time-served Engineering Apprenticeship City & Guilds 2391-52 - Inspection & Testing City & Guilds 2382-22 - 18th Edition Wiring Regulations CSCS Professional Persons / ECS Electrical SMSTS - Desirable First Aid at Work (3 Day)Onsite Training (Provided) Test Team Leader (TTL) Appointed Person (Commissioning) - NP(C) Electrical Safety Training Why Apply? £60/hour Outside IR35 High-profile, long-term programme at AWE Technically challenging role with real responsibility Stable 5-day onsite working pattern Interested?
