Electrical Maintenance Engineer


Electrically Biased Maintenance Engineer Shift Pattern: Monday – Friday across early and late shifts, including weekend working on a rota Salary: Competitive Job Objective & Responsibilities An Electrically Biased Maintenance Engineer is required to work as part of a site‑based engineering team, delivering planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive repairs to electrical, mechanical, and building fabric assets within a retail property environment. This role requires a proactive, safety‑focused engineer with strong fault‑finding skills and a professional, customer‑focused approach. Main Duties * Carry out planned and reactive maintenance as instructed by the Contract Manager * Undertake fault finding, testing, repair, and preventative maintenance of electrical building services systems * Provide electrical support to the wider site engineering team * Complete a range of non‑specialist building fabric maintenance tasks * Close and update PPM tasks using the computerised maintenance management system (CMMS) * Maintain high engineering standards to maximise plant performance and reliability * Ensure all works comply with company quality procedures and site requirements * Adhere to all Health & Safety policies and procedures at all times * Maintain accurate site records and technical documentation * Proactively inspect plant and services and respond to call‑outs as required * Attend site emergencies, including outside normal working hours when necessary * Work safely within plant rooms and at height, using platforms and ladders (PPE and access equipment provided) * Maintain all company‑issued tools in a safe, serviceable condition * Positively support the ongoing success of the contract * Carry out any other reasonable tasks as requested by management, which may include assisting with security‑related duties Person Specification Essential City & Guilds / NVQ in Building Services Engineering or Electrical Installation & Maintenance (or equivalent) City & Guilds 2391 – Inspection & Testing City & Guilds 2382 – 18th Edition Wiring Regulations Time‑served apprenticeship or equivalent training Strong knowledge of building services engineering Previous experience working within a team environment Customer‑focused and professional approach Smart, presentable appearance Logical and methodical fault‑finding skills Excellent interpersonal and communication skills Ability to work both unsupervised and as part of a team Self‑motivated with the ability to manage workload effectively Flexible and adaptable to changing operational requirements Willing to support colleagues and contribute positively to the team Desirable IPAF and/or PASMA Experience using Microsoft Office, CMMS, and Building Management Systems (BMS) HVAC and wider Building Services Engineering experience
