Design Engineering Manager

Are you an experienced design or engineering professional with strong leadership skills? Centristic is looking for a proactive Design Engineering Manager to lead our drafting and detailing team, drive quality, and ensure the successful delivery of engineering projects. What You’ll Do * Lead and manage the Drawing Office team, ensuring high-quality and error-free drawings. * Coordinate resources, workloads, and timescales to meet project deadlines and milestones. * Act as the central contact for Project Managers, supporting design changes and early planning. * Work closely with the Workshop Manager to ensure smooth and timely drawing handovers. * Run Kick-Off Meetings, Technical Reviews, and weekly DO meetings to track progress and resolve issues. * Review and approve drawings to ensure compliance with company standards and UKCA/legislative requirements. * Maintain and improve drawing office processes, quality standards, and document control. * Monitor commercial aspects, including variations, drawing hours, and specification changes. * Support team development, training, performance management, and recruitment. What We’re Looking For * Experience managing a drawing office or design team in an engineering environment. * Strong technical background in drafting, detailing, or engineering (materials handling experience a plus). * Excellent organisational, communication, and leadership skills. * Understanding of UKCA marking, Design Risk Assessments, and workshop/site operations (or willingness to learn). * Strong commercial awareness and ability to manage budgets and variations. * Proficiency with Tekla Structures and Trimble Connect software essential.
