Business Development Manager Principal Electrical Contractor – Industrial, Energy from Waste & Wind Location: UK-wide (National role with travel) The Role Our client is a well-established principal electrical contractor delivering complex electrical and EC&I packages on large-scale industrial, Energy from Waste (EFW), and wind energy projects across the UK. Due to continued growth, they are seeking an experienced Business Development Manager to support pipeline development and secure new project opportunities. This is a key front-end role focused on early engagement, client relationship management, and bid support, working closely with senior management, estimating, and delivery teams. Key Responsibilities Identify and develop new business opportunities across industrial, EFW, and onshore/offshore wind sectors Build and maintain strong relationships with developers, EPC contractors, utilities, consultants, and framework partners Manage and develop a robust sales and opportunity pipeline Support PQQs, tenders, and negotiated bids, contributing to bid strategy and client engagement Attend client meetings, site visits, industry events, and networking forums Provide market intelligence, pipeline reporting, and forecasting to senior management Support contract negotiations and handover to project delivery teams Candidate Requirements Essential Proven experience in business development within electrical contracting, power, energy, or industrial construction Strong understanding of electrical scope (HV/LV, EC&I, substations, MCCs or balance-of-plant works) Experience working with principal contractors, EPCs, or developers Track record of securing work on large or complex construction projects Strong commercial awareness and communication skills Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel nationally Desirable Experience in Energy from Waste and/or wind energy projects Knowledge of UK frameworks, procurement routes, and tendering processes Technical or engineering background Package Competitive salary (dependent on experience) Performance-related bonus Company car or car allowance Pension and benefits package
