Food Technology Teacher Location: Romford, Greater London Contract: Part-time Start Date: Immediate Start Salary: MPS/UPS (Outer London), dependent on experience The Role We are seeking an enthusiastic, skilled, and dedicated Food Technology Teacher to join a forward-thinking and supportive secondary school in Romford. This is an exciting opportunity for a passionate educator to inspire students through engaging, practical, and theory-based food technology lessons across Key Stages 3 and 4. The successful candidate will play a key role in delivering a creative and ambitious curriculum that promotes healthy living, nutritional awareness, and essential life skills, while maintaining high standards of teaching, learning, and student achievement. Key Responsibilities Plan, prepare, and deliver high-quality Food Technology lessons in line with the national curriculum Teach practical cooking skills, food science, nutrition, and food safety Create a safe, inclusive, and stimulating learning environment in specialist food rooms Assess, monitor, and track student progress, providing constructive feedback Contribute to curriculum development and enrichment activities within the Design & Technology department Maintain high standards of health and safety in practical lessons Support whole-school policies and contribute positively to the wider school community The Ideal Candidate Will Have Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent A relevant degree or strong subject knowledge in Food Technology, Nutrition, or related field Experience teaching Food Technology at KS3 and KS4 (KS5 desirable but not essential) Strong classroom management skills and a passion for practical learning A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people Excellent organisational and communication skills ECTs are warmly encouraged to apply (full induction and mentoring provided) What the School Offers A supportive and collaborative Design & Technology department Well-equipped food technology classrooms and modern facilities Strong leadership and a positive school culture Ongoing CPD and career progression opportunities A diverse and vibrant student community Easy transport links within Greater London and Essex
