Technical Manager


Location: Yate, BS37 Job Role: Technical Manager Hours: Monday to Friday 8.00am-5.00pm Salary: £55,000.00 - £60,000.00 pa DOE Role Type: Permanent gap personnel acting as an employment business are currently recruiting a Technical Manager for a fast growing, entrepreneurial food business based in Yate, BS37. As a Technical Manager, you will play a key role in increasing the technical standards by which the company operates and supporting the manufacturing standards and seeking to raise them continuously. This is not a remote/ hybrid role. You will be required to work on site. Responsibilities: Develop and ensure that quality systems operate efficiently in order to satisfy customers and provide due diligence Take full responsibility for the generation of Quality/Food Safety documentation and control systems whilst maintaining change justification, version and date control Ensure that Food Safety and Quality procedures are efficient, effective and maintained Ensure that products meet all quality criteria, i.e., specification, traceability, labelling, visual presentation, weight and food safety Take ownership of FSSC22000 auditing procedures, documentation and actions arising Participate in internal auditing in line with FSSC22000, Customer specified requirements and GMP standards. Review and maintain the site HACCP program as team leader Complete customer/third party originated ‘self-assessment questionnaires’ (SAQ) or information requests in varying formats Complete, follow up and close out supplier non-conformances as required. Investigate and resolve customer complaints Track trends on quality performance, customer complaints, defects and non-conformances and take corrective actions Actively participate in the management and completion of traceability challenges, mass balances and product reviews Implement and maintain all specifications for raw materials and final product Make the production parameters visual, simple and controllable Initial investigation into issues of poor quality/Operator Mistakes and work with Factory Manager to implement corrective actions Ensure excellent standards of housekeeping and hygiene are continuously maintained Liaise with regulatory authorities as required Liaise with customer and supplier technical representatives and take the lead during site audits Assist with NPD requirements, artwork proofing, shelf-life determination and HACCP risk assessments as well as providing technical input into product trials and new launches Liaise with production manager to ensure maintenance & calibration of production equipment Manage the FQF supplier approval process and maintain up to date specifications and accreditation Requirements: Experience in Food Manufacturing, including customer interface Technical experience in food processing or packing Food Safety Level 3, HACCP Level 3 Trained Capacity to think of innovative solutions and ability to implement them. Good Level of Computer based administration (Microsoft office). Minimum 3 years’ experience of working in an environment with exposure to SOP's/Work Instructions, HACCP and food Safety rules and regulations.
