Senior Engineer / Senior Site Engineer (Sizewell C) Contract £400 a day + Subsistence £60k DOE + Package + Subsistence Location: Sizewell C, Leiston, Suffolk Reporting / Scope * Reports to Site Agent / Project Manager (PM). * Responsible for managing engineering aspects of the project; overseeing site and trainee engineers. Key Duties / Responsibilities * Ensure works are constructed per contract drawings, specifications, procedures and plans. * Manage site engineering aspects including site clearance; drainage & service ducts; earthworks; pavements, kerbs & footways; and street lighting. * Oversee health, safety, quality control systems — including preparing and checking RAMS/TBS, ensuring compliance with HSEQ standards, temporary works and CDM regulations as needed. * Review short-term lookahead programmes; report on site progress or delays; assist in identifying and resolving issues that could impact programme or progress. * Temporary & permanent works design assurance: check drawings/specifications, setting out requirements; liaise with Temporary Works Coordinator (TWC); issue Material Approval Records (MARs); raise Technical Queries (TQs); design briefs for temporary works; ensure compliance during installation. * Quality management: write/check ITPs, keep QA records, handle non-conformance reports (NCRs) and defects; manage quality handover documentation; lead on readiness reviews, lessons learnt to avoid recurrence. Experience / Knowledge / Skills / Qualifications * Previous experience as a Senior Engineer (or similar) for a civil-engineering contractor—preferably with highways / general civils background. * Good knowledge of CDM regulations and temporary works. * Strong understanding of specifications and testing regimes relevant to highway/general civil engineering works. * Good communication, team leadership and people-management skills; ability to speak up on HSEQ matters and lead by example. * Familiarity with mobile/BIM field software (e.g. FieldView / Dalux or similar) desirable. * Desirable: proficiency in design software (e.g. AutoCAD / Autodesk / SketchUp) * Qualifications: Degree or HNC in Civil Engineering (or equivalent) desirable. Membership of professional body (e.g. Institution of Civil Engineers) or working towards membership is a plus. * Additional desired credentials: valid UK driving licence; valid CSCS card; safety qualification like SMSTS or IOSH Managing Safely (or similar)
