DT Technician

Location: Secondary School, Watford Contract: Full-time, Permanent Start Date: As soon as possible The Role We are seeking a reliable and enthusiastic Design & Technology Technician to support the delivery of high-quality DT provision across the school. The successful candidate will work closely with teaching staff to ensure lessons are well-resourced, safe, and engaging for students. Key Responsibilities * Prepare materials, equipment, and resources for DT lessons * Maintain, organise, and safely store tools, machinery, and materials * Support practical lessons where required * Carry out routine maintenance and basic repairs of DT equipment * Ensure health and safety standards are upheld at all times, including COSHH and risk assessments * Manage stock levels and place orders for materials and supplies * Support students’ learning by providing technical advice and assistance The Ideal Candidate * Previous experience working as a DT Technician or in a similar role (school-based experience desirable) * Practical knowledge of DT disciplines such as resistant materials, electronics, textiles, or CAD/CAM * A strong understanding of health and safety in a workshop/classroom environment * Well organised, proactive, and able to work independently * Good communication skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team * A positive approach to working with young people Safeguarding This school is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
