Our client is recruiting for a Global Trade Compliance Manager to be based remotely in the UK. On Offer: * Opportunity to work for a leading engineering organisation delivering world class solutions in an environment where you can learn from top industry experts, work with important technologies, and unlock a passion for innovation * Salary £80K -£100K, depending on experience * Bonus 15% * DC Pension * Private medical (via Axa Medical) * Group Life Insurance 6x salary * 25 days vacation + Bank holidays Main Purpose of the Global Trade Compliance Manager Role: Reporting to the Chief Legal Officer based in the US, the Global Trade Compliance Manager will build and run a pragmatic trade compliance program across UK/EU/Asia — export controls (EU Dual‑Use, UK Military List, EAR/ITAR familiarity, OFAC) plus customs operations (HTS, IPR/OPR, AEO)—including licensing (OGEL/SIEL), audits/investigations, broker/forwarder governance, training, and regulator engagement (HMRC/BEIS and equivalents). This role will assume hands on responsibility for trade compliance at the company’s UK, EU and Asian operations. The position will be Home based in the UK but with significant flexibility to work from various sites as required. The role will aid in developing, improving, and enforcing policies and procedures covering the regulation of international trade, including export control, Customs and import procedures. This position will work with various global functional teams to identify, assess and develop action plans with respect to international trade compliance, cost reduction and standardization. Duties & Responsibilities include: * Continued development and implementation of a global trade compliance program, including the development and maintenance of operational processes and controls around export activities including advising various business teams on company policies and procedures, customs rules, regulations and procedures, customs classifications (HTS) and worldwide equivalents, Anti-Money Laundering, sanctions programs, UK Bribery Act, Modern Slavery and worldwide equivalents, insider threats, and export licensing requirements * Act as liaison between the Legal Department and facility export administrators * Identify, communicate and translate compliance best practices across company’s facilities * Define and conduct trade compliance audits and investigations and ensure corrective action processes are in place to comply with applicable laws and regulations * Design tools and performance reports to provide awareness and measure effectiveness of export controls and supply chain security compliance programs (AEO). * For exports, determine jurisdiction, licensing end use and licensing requirements (if applicable) based upon the EU Dual Use Regulation, UK Military List and worldwide equivalents * Working knowledge and familiarity with the U.S. Export Administration Regulations (EAR), International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR), Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC sanctions programs). * Prepare license application for filing (including OGELS, SIELS and worldwide equivalents in various EU countries), manage the application process and track and audit usage of such licenses. * Develop and deliver customized export controls, inward and Outward processing relief (IPR / OPR) and supply chain security compliance training programs for internal and external stakeholders through webinars and in-person forums. Communicate formal guidance (procedure manuals) regarding the requirements. Skills & Experience Required To Be Considered: * Minimum 10 years’ experience with Imports, Exports and Customs procedures * Previous supervisory and leadership experience * In-depth knowledge of the related processes for determining export control classifications and exporting requirements * Significant experience directly managing import/export compliance (aerospace industry experience preferred), including classifying products and technical data * Bachelor’s Degree in Business, International Trade, Finance, Accounting or other related field. * Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint * Certifications in trade compliance and customs is preferred * Demonstrates understanding of and ability to interpret the ITAR, EAR, OFAC, AEO requirements, UK Military List and EU Dual Use Regulations * Knowledge of HTS and process for classifying goods with the appropriate HTS code For full details, please contact Willis Global – a leading Recruitment Consultancy for the Supply Chain & Logistics industry
