Our client is a statutory public-sector organisation delivering essential utility services that support the Island’s people, economy, and environment. With around 400 employees and annual revenues of approximately £150m, they play a critical role in maintaining vital infrastructure services. They are seeking an experienced Head of Water Services to lead the Island’s water operations and infrastructure. Role overview: Reporting directly to the Executive Director, you will have full responsibility for water services and infrastructure across the Isle of Man. The role is primarily based in Douglas, with travel required to sites across the Island. Key responsibilities • Senior leadership of the Water Services team and operational management of water infrastructure • Asset owner responsibility for water treatment works, reservoirs, networks, and associated assets • Development and delivery of water strategy, policy, and service delivery plans • Senior Management Team member providing advice on policy, strategy, governance, and performance • Health, safety, environmental, and quality leadership including ISO45001, ISO9001, ISO14001, and ISO55001 • Budget preparation, financial management, and long-term capital planning • Risk management and operational resilience planning • Oversight of water quality compliance and environmental performance • Leadership of people management, succession planning, recruitment, and staff development • Strategic input to capital projects and long-term engineering plans • Stakeholder management including regulators, government bodies, and customers Candidate profile: • Degree in engineering, civil engineering, environmental engineering, or a related discipline • Chartered Engineer or Chartered Member of a relevant professional institution • Significant senior leadership experience within the water sector, utilities, or a regulated operational environment • Strong background in water treatment, water supply, asset management, and infrastructure operations • Proven experience in strategy development, service delivery, and organisational change • Experience managing large operational teams and complex assets • Strong knowledge of governance, health and safety, and regulatory compliance • Experience with ISO quality, environmental, and asset management systems • Excellent communication, stakeholder engagement, and leadership skills • NEBOSH General Certificate desirable What’s on offer: • Senior leadership role with strategic influence • Competitive salary and benefits package • Opportunity to lead essential water infrastructure and services
