Higher Level Teaching Assistant


A warm, community-driven primary school in Camden is seeking a confident and skilled Higher Level Teaching Assistant to play a key role in supporting teaching and learning across KS1 or KS2. This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced HLTA who is ready to take on additional responsibility, contribute to whole-class teaching, and make a meaningful impact on pupil progress. What Makes This Opportunity Special • Supportive, friendly staff team with a strong community ethos • A school that values initiative, creativity, and pupil wellbeing • Opportunities to develop teaching experience and progress professionally • A stable, full-time role offering variety and genuine responsibility Your Key Responsibilities • Whole-Class Teaching • Deliver pre-planned lessons confidently in the teacher’s absence • Manage behaviour effectively to maintain a productive classroom environment • Ensure lessons run smoothly with strong engagement and structure • Interventions & Targeted Support • Lead small-group sessions in literacy, numeracy, phonics, and booster work • Provide tailored support for SEND pupils • Record and communicate pupil progress to class teachers Classroom Support • Prepare learning resources and help deliver differentiated activities • Assist with assessments, marking support, and learning journals • Contribute to creating an inclusive and inspiring classroom space Pastoral & Behaviour Support • Support pupils with emotional regulation and social development • Reinforce expectations and model positive behaviour • Build strong, nurturing relationships across the phase Ideal Candidate Profile • HLTA qualification or strong experience leading whole-class lessons • Confident with behaviour management and independent classroom leadership • Experience across KS1 and/or KS2 • Skilled in supporting SEND pupils • Excellent communicator, proactive, organised, and child-centred • Passionate about promoting pupil progress, wellbeing, and inclusion Why work via Teach Now?
