Operational Manager – Nurseries (1-Year Maternity Cover) Location: Wimbledon Contract: Full-Time | Fixed Term – 12 Months Salary: Competitive + Benefits Start Date: ASAP / Flexible We are currently seeking an experienced and driven Operational Manager to oversee the day-to-day performance and quality standards across three well-established nurseries within the local area. This is a fantastic 1-year maternity cover opportunity for a strong leader with a passion for early years education and a proven track record in multi-site management. The Role As the Operational Manager, you will provide strategic and hands-on leadership to ensure each nursery delivers outstanding care and education. You will work closely with Nursery Managers to maintain compliance, drive occupancy, support staff development, and uphold exceptional safeguarding and EYFS standards. Key Responsibilities * Oversee the operational performance of three nurseries, ensuring each setting meets or exceeds regulatory standards * Lead, mentor, and support Nursery Managers, driving a positive, collaborative culture * Maintain strong knowledge of EYFS, safeguarding, health & safety, and Ofsted requirements * Monitor budgets, staffing, and resource planning to ensure efficient and effective operations * Implement quality improvement plans and support settings to achieve high Ofsted outcomes * Build strong relationships with parents, staff, external agencies, and key stakeholders * Drive occupancy growth and maintain an excellent reputation within the community About You * Proven experience in a multi-site early years management or high-level Nursery Manager role * Strong understanding of early years regulations, EYFS framework, and Ofsted inspection standards * Confident leader with excellent communication, problem-solving, and organisational skills * Ability to coach, motivate, and develop staff across multiple locations * A proactive, solution-focused individual who thrives in a fast-paced environment * Level 3 Childcare minimum (Level 5 or above preferred) Benefits * Competitive salary and comprehensive benefits package * Supportive and collaborative leadership team * Opportunity to influence and drive operational excellence across multiple settings * Fixed-term role ideal for individuals seeking career progression or multi-site experience How to Apply If you are a confident leader with a passion for early years and the ability to manage multiple nursery settings, we would love to hear from you.
