Our client is a well-established specialist machinery manufacturer and is looking to recruit a Skilled Mechanical Fitter to support the build and installation of bespoke friction welding machinery. This is an excellent opportunity to work on complex, high-value equipment in a hands-on engineering environment with international travel and long-term progression. The Role As a Mechanical Fitter, you will be responsible for the assembly, build, installation, and commissioning of friction welding machinery. Working closely with Design and Engineering teams, you'll play a key role in delivering projects from workshop build through to customer handover. Key responsibilities include: Assembly and fitting of machine sub-assemblies including spindles, clamps, hydraulics, pneumatics, and lubrication systems Reading and interpreting mechanical assembly drawings, hydraulic and pneumatic schematics Installation of hydraulic, lubrication, and pneumatic systems On-site installation, upgrades, and repairs at customer sites in the UK and worldwide Operating machine shop equipment including mills, lathes, and grinders Inspection of components using precision measuring equipment Liaising with Engineering and Build teams to resolve technical issues Supporting project planning and contributing to continuous improvement initiatives About You You'll be a practical, detail-focused Mechanical Fitter who enjoys working on bespoke machinery and complex assemblies. Essential requirements: Mechanical Engineering qualification (City & Guilds or BTEC) Experience as a Machine Tool Fitter or within bespoke machinery build Strong ability to read mechanical drawings and fluid schematics Experience with hydraulic, pneumatic, and lubrication systems Confident using machine shop equipment Able to work independently with minimal supervision Full UK driving licence and passport (international travel required) Desirable: Strong fault-finding and problem-solving skills Interest in continuous improvement and best practice manufacturing What's on Offer Competitive salary (DOE) International travel opportunities Varied, hands-on engineering work Supportive and growing engineering team Ongoing training and professional development
