Pastoral Assistant – Secondary School Location: SE2, South East London Start Date: January Contract: Full-time, term time A caring and inclusive secondary school in the SE2 area is seeking a compassionate and proactive Pastoral Assistant to join their team on a full-time basis from January. This role is ideal for someone passionate about supporting students’ wellbeing, behaviour, attendance, and personal development, and who enjoys working closely with young people to help them succeed both academically and socially. The Role: Providing pastoral support to students across KS3 and KS4 Supporting students with behaviour management, attendance, and engagement Working with vulnerable students, including those with SEND or SEMH needs Building positive, trusting relationships and acting as a key point of support Assisting with safeguarding concerns and student wellbeing under guidance of senior staff Liaising with teaching staff, pastoral leads, SENCo, and external agencies where appropriate Supporting students in and out of the classroom, including during breaks The Ideal Candidate Will: Have experience working with children or young people in a pastoral, mentoring, or support role Be empathetic, patient, and resilient Have strong communication and interpersonal skills Be organised, proactive, and able to work as part of a team Be committed to safeguarding and promoting student welfare Be available full time from January The School Offers: A supportive and collaborative pastoral team A positive and inclusive school environment Ongoing training and professional development opportunities Valuable experience for those considering a career in pastoral care, education, youth work, or psychology
