We are currently recruiting on their behalf for an experienced Band Saw Operator to join their Manufacturing Team on a full-time, permanent basis. This position offers a competitive salary of up to £14 per hour and working hours: Monday–Thursday 07:30–16:30, Friday early finish of 12:30pm within a progressive, technically advanced environment. We are seeking a skilled and reliable Band Saw Operator to join our clients metal fabrication team. The ideal candidate will have experience operating band saws in a metalworking environment, with a focus on precision cutting of aluminium castings. This is a hands-on role requiring attention to detail, mechanical aptitude, and the ability to work independently while maintaining high safety standards. Saw Operator – Main Responsibilities: * Operate band saws to cut aluminium and other metal castings safely and accurately. * Prepare raw castings for machining, including retrieving from casters and setting up for cutting. * Perform cutting freehand where jigs are not available, ensuring precision and consistent quality. * Use both 16 ft and 20 ft blades for various cutting tasks. * Conduct linishing and finishing of metal surfaces as required. * Carry out visual and dimensional inspections of cut pieces to ensure compliance with specifications. * Carry out all Blade, Size Changes and machine setting parameters to maximise Saw performance * Prepare and organise items for dispatch according to company procedures. * Maintain and clean machinery, reporting any faults or maintenance needs promptly. * Adhere strictly to health and safety regulations, including PPE use and safe handling of materials. Saw Operator – Required Skills and Experience: * Proven experience operating band saws Chop Saw’s and Miter Saw’s desirable ideally within a metalworking or foundry environment. * Previous experience working with multiple different types of metal materials including; Aluminium and Stainless Steel. * Must be able to read technical engineering drawings. * Knowledge of health and safety standards relevant to metal cutting and machinery operation. * Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work. * Physical fitness to handle heavy materials and operate machinery safely. * Good communication skills and a proactive approach to problem-solving. * Experience in linishing and finishing aluminium or other non-ferrous metals.
