Senior Electronics Hardware Engineer

Senior Electronics Hardware Engineer Location: Camberley Salary: Competitive / Negotiable A leading engineering business based in Camberley is looking for a Senior Electronics Hardware Engineer to take technical ownership of new electronic designs and help deliver robust, low-power, low-noise hardware for advanced instrumentation. This is a senior, hands-on role combining digital and analogue design, embedded development, EMC/standards compliance, and practical fault-finding—with scope to influence design decisions and mentor others across engineering and production support. What you’ll be doing * Designing and developing analogue and digital electronics (including FPGA & MPU-based designs) with an emphasis on low average power consumption and low-noise systems. * Taking the lead on hardware reviews, evaluating options and selecting the best technical approach for each project. * Owning EMC-led design, supporting EMC testing, and ensuring standards compliance. * Supporting embedded work in C and/or C++ on microprocessors, plus hands-on debugging and fault resolution across hardware/firmware. * Producing high-quality design documentation so others can pick up work confidently and maintain momentum. * Working to established processes and contributing to improvements that increase quality and efficiency. * Providing informal leadership by mentoring and guiding colleagues (no direct reports, but senior-level influence is expected). What we’re looking for Essential * Strong experience designing both analogue and digital circuits, using simulation where appropriate to ensure reliability and fitness for purpose. * Practical capability in EMC design principles and applying relevant standards (e.g., marine/industrial compliance frameworks). * PCB design experience using Altium, with solid schematic capture and good foundational PCB layout knowledge. * Embedded coding ability in C (able to write from the ground up, fix bugs, and implement features) plus at least a basic understanding of C++/OOP. * Comfortable with hands-on electronics fault-finding and supporting manufacturing/production when needed. * 2:1 or above in a relevant engineering degree (e.g., Electronic/Electrical Engineering or similar). Nice to have * Evidence of staying current with industry trends, tools, and techniques, and applying that learning pragmatically
