PRU Class Teacher (Primary Phase Teacher)· Pupil Referral Unit (PRU) Lewisham Salary: Main Pay Scale SEN Allowance (UPS considered) Start: January 2026A high-performing Pupil Referral Unit (PRU) in the London Borough of Lewisham is seeking an inspiring and resilient Primary Phase Class Teacher to work with Year 7 and Year 8 intervention students. The provision offers a unique approach to education, built on vocational and integrated learning models, and students consistently achieve beyond expectations across all Key Stages. The Role The appointed teacher will: Deliver a KS2-style curriculum, including core subjects such as English, Maths and Science, tailored to the needs of younger learners working in a secondary setting. Plan and teach engaging lessons that support re-engagement, confidence and accelerated progress. Differentiate learning effectively and work collaboratively with support staff to meet the diverse needs of students, including those with SEND and EAL. Assess, monitor, record and report on pupil progress, setting clear, achievable targets. Promote positive behaviour, mutual respect and a supportive, inclusive learning environment. Build constructive relationships with parents, carers and external professionals. Contribute to whole-school initiatives, curriculum development and safeguarding practice. Person Requirements The ideal candidate will: Hold QTS and have successful experience teaching Key Stage 2, with a preference for experience in Years 5 and 6. Demonstrate excellent behaviour management and strong communication skills. Have a thorough understanding of safeguarding, inclusive practice and the needs of vulnerable learners. Be able to motivate, inspire and support students to exceed expectations. Use assessment, data and IT effectively to raise standards.Experience in alternative or specialist settings is advantageous but not essential.
