Animal Care and Dog Grooming Trainer Location: Rotherham Salary: £26,278 per annum Hours: Full-time Contract Type: Permanent Our client is seeking a passionate and knowledgeable Animal Care and Dog Grooming Trainer/Assessor to join their team and support learners studying Animal Management and Dog Grooming at Level 2 and Level 3. About the Role You will deliver high-quality practical and theoretical training, assessment and guidance to learners across Dog Grooming and wider Animal Management study programmes. Your role will involve supporting students to develop key industry skills, tracking their progress, delivering constructive feedback, and helping them to achieve their qualifications in line with organisational expectations. You will also contribute to building and maintaining strong employer relationships, expanding student placement opportunities, and sourcing suitable dogs for grooming sessions to meet curriculum needs. Occasional weekend or evening work may be required. Key Responsibilities * Deliver and assess practical and theoretical learning for Dog Grooming (Level 2 & 3) and Animal Care learners * Carry out learner assessments and observations using electronic portfolios * Provide constructive, developmental feedback and set SMART targets * Track learner progress and provide regular updates to curriculum leaders * Complete all associated administration, including test coordination, record keeping and IQA requirements * Contribute to curriculum planning, standardisation and continuous improvement * Promote all department programmes and support wider learner development * Engage with employers to maximise placement and industry opportunities * Work flexibly as part of the wider Animal Management team to support learners * Provide First Aid support if required (training can be provided) About You * Experience working within Animal Management or a similar setting * Strong dog grooming experience across a variety of breeds * Experience assessing learners in an educational or training environment * Qualified in Animal Care at Level 3 or above * Qualified in Dog Grooming at Level 2 or above * Assessor qualification (CAVA or equivalent) or willingness to work towards * Good IT skills, including use of Google Classroom * Strong organisational skills, flexibility and the ability to work independently * A commitment to safeguarding, equality, diversity and data protection Benefits * 26 days’ annual leave plus bank holidays * Automatic enrolment into the South Yorkshire Pension Scheme * Inclusive, supportive and values-driven working environment * Opportunities for ongoing training and professional development Apply Now
