Assembly Team Leader


Specialists in providing engineered above ground drainage and water supply systems, Polypipe Building Services leverages offsite fabrication to design and deliver solutions to mechanical and public health engineers, M&E contractors as well as local authorities. Polypipe Building Services houses well-known industry brand Terrain and has been delivering systems to commercial, high rise residential, healthcare, education and leisure projects for over 50 years. Role: To main purpose of this role is to prioritise the assembly orders, ensure all component parts are available, plan the orders onto the various workstations and allocate the appropriate resource to carry out the required tasks. Key accountabilities: * Plan and prioritise assembly orders using the planning spreadsheet. * Organise the team, equipment, and paperwork to meet daily targets. * Print and allocate all required assembly paperwork and labels. * Plan cover for short-term absences (training, appointments, etc.) to minimise disruption. * Keep records up to date, including attendance, fire register, and order progress. * Monitor and update BOR, change tables, and stock levels (IFS) as needed. * Book and close orders, updating all relevant systems. * Work closely with departments such as Planning, WHS, and Purchasing to resolve order issues, chase parts, and manage consumables. * Raise IT support tickets (SysAid) and follow up as needed. * Attend meetings in the manager’s absence (Customer Service, Planning, etc.). * Support training activities with the Production Trainer and Assembly Management team. * Encourage continuous improvement and contribute to department KPIs. * Promote company values through teamwork and a positive attitude. Person Specification: * Excellent organisation skills with ability to use a variety of information sources to maximise individual and teams’ performance to meet departmental and company objectives. * Confidence and ability to manage varied, complex and changing day to day individual and team activities remaining open in communication with Assembly Manager. * Ability to work with the Management team to achieve departmental and company objectives. * Ability to identify and drive positive change in self, individuals, teams and processes. * Understanding of the Business requirements to plan dynamically for maximum benefit. * Strong H&S and general housekeeping awareness and knowledge. * Willingness to undertake any relevant training sessions. * Computer literate and able to use the company system (IFS) or similar MRP systems. * Excellent communication skills.
