Electrical Design Engineer (Intermediate to Principal Level) – Hybrid Working – Birmingham Location: Birmingham City Centre Salary: £35,000 – £60,000+ DOE Job Type: Full-Time | Permanent Sector: Building Services | Electrical Engineering | Design Consultancy We are seeking a talented Electrical Design Engineer to join a leading Building Services Consultancy located just minutes from Birmingham Snow Hill Station. Due to continued success and a growing project portfolio, the business is expanding and looking for engineers from Intermediate to Principal level. This is an exciting opportunity to join a collaborative and forward-thinking team that’s passionate about innovation, sustainability, and low-carbon design. Key Responsibilities * Produce detailed electrical designs, drawings, and schematics across multiple project types. * Design and develop power distribution and lighting systems, focusing on energy efficiency and low-carbon solutions. * Manage and deliver electrical design packages on time and within budget. * Conduct site surveys, inspections, and project coordination with clients and contractors. * Prepare technical reports, calculations, and project documentation. * Work collaboratively across disciplines including Mechanical, Sustainability, and BIM teams. * Provide technical leadership, mentoring, and support to junior engineers (depending on level). * Deliver projects across diverse sectors: Commercial, Healthcare, Education, Retail, and Industrial. Requirements * Proven experience as an Electrical Design Engineer within a Building Services Consultancy or similar environment. * Strong knowledge of BS7671 regulations, power distribution, and lighting design. * Proficiency in AutoCAD (2D); Revit MEP experience or training is desirable. * Familiarity with low-carbon design principles and renewable energy systems. * Excellent communication and organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects. * Degree-qualified in Electrical Engineering or a related field (BEng / MEng preferred). * Experience in design-and-build or consultancy-led projects is an advantage.
