We're looking for a talented CAD Engineer to join our growing team in Cannock. What You'll Be Doing As a key part of our engineering team, you'll take ownership of CAD activity throughout new product introduction. You'll use your technical skills to create, optimise and support real-world manufacturing solutions. Your responsibilities will include: Creating accurate CAD models, drawings and geometry based on client requirements Developing flat patterns and preparing data for manufacture Reviewing and enhancing customer-supplied models to improve manufacturability Programming and nesting for flatbed laser machines using CAD/CAM software Interpreting engineering drawings and maintaining meticulous drawing control, including parts library revisions Reverse engineering customer samples Designing jigs and fixtures to improve shop-floor efficiency Supporting trials from planning through to data presentation Assisting sales with feasibility assessments Updating project plans/APQP documentation to meet deliverables Managing tooling and gauge purchasing in line with timings and costs Quality-related elements such as ISIRs, FAIRs, PPAPs and wider HSE processes are desirable but not essential—perfect for someone looking to expand their experience. What You'll Bring You'll thrive in this role if you enjoy hands-on engineering, problem-solving and seeing your designs come to life. Essential attributes include: Strong CAD capability within a laser, fabrication or sheet-metal environment Experience with TruTops, Ansys SpaceClaim or SolidWorks (essential) Experience programming lasers and/or press brakes Ability to interpret engineering drawings (GD&T advantageous) Understanding of engineering materials and processes Strong numerical and analytical ability Familiarity with MRP systems Confident using Microsoft Office Methodical, structured approach to problem-solving Positive, proactive attitude and strong communication skills Detail-focused, self-motivated team player Quality-engineering experience is advantageous but not required.
