SEN Teaching Assistant – Specialist SEND Provision Milk Education | Tottenham I’m recruiting on behalf of a highly respected specialist SEND provision in Tottenham that supports pupils with significant and complex needs, including Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), profound and multiple learning disabilities (PMLD), sensory processing differences, mobility needs, and medical or physical conditions requiring consistent therapeutic input. Many pupils access on-site hydrotherapy, Occupational Therapy, and Speech & Language Therapy sessions as part of their daily timetable. We’re looking for a calm, committed, and genuinely compassionate SEN Teaching Assistant—someone who thrives in therapeutic, child-centred environments and is keen to build experience for a future pathway in Occupational Therapy, Physiotherapy, or specialist SEND support. This role begins on a day-to-day, term-time basis, with strong potential to develop into a long-term or permanent position. About the Role This is an immersive, hands-on position supporting pupils with high and complex needs. You’ll work directly alongside teachers, OTs, SaLTs, physiotherapists, and NHS professionals to deliver structured routines, sensory regulation programmes, mobility support, and communication interventions. Each day is varied, meaningful, and rooted in helping pupils access learning in a safe, regulated, and highly personalised way. Key Responsibilities Providing 1:1 and small-group support for pupils with complex SEN, PMLD, and physical needs Assisting with mobility routines, wheelchair guidance, hoisting (if trained), and access to hydrotherapy sessions Supporting pupils during OT and Speech & Language programmes, reinforcing targets around fine motor skills, communication, sensory regulation, and independence Using visual communication systems such as PECS, Makaton, and visual timetables Helping deliver sensory circuits, tactile exploration activities, regulation strategies, and structured break routines Assisting with personal care, feeding, medical routines, and postural management where required Contributing to adapted lessons focused on communication, life skills, social interaction, and experiential learning Using positive behaviour support and consistent routines to reduce anxiety and support emotional stability Working collaboratively with the full therapy and education team to maintain a safe, respectful, and nurturing environment This role is ideal for someone who wants to build real clinical experience and develop strong foundations in therapeutic support, communication work, and disability care.
