Senior Procurement Specialist – Strategic Categories Derby Industry: Global Manufacturing &Supply Chain £(phone number removed)k + 10% Bonus, Health and excellent pension Primarily onsite, although some Hybrid Flex An established Global manufacturer with ambitious growth plans is seeking a skilled procurement professional to take ownership of a high-value indirect spend portfolio, within Indirect spend and direct supply chain projects to deliver. This role combines hands-on delivery with strategic category management, ensuring best value from suppliers while supporting the wider business with innovative sourcing solutions. Responsibilities: Senior Procurement Specialist – Strategic Categories Lead sourcing initiatives across multiple indirect categories, running tenders, RFQs, and supplier evaluations. Main focus on CAPEX and Energy to start with You will naturally bring solutions to procurement, planning and supply chain challenges and overcome barriers through exceptional stakeholder management and engagement skills Develop and implement procurement strategies to reduce cost, mitigate risk, and enhance supplier performance Managing supplier relationships and driving savings projects, to supporting global initiatives and leading a high-performing team Cultivate strong connections with critical suppliers, evaluate their performance, identify opportunities for improvement, and ensure service standards align with company goals Negotiate and finalise commercial agreements, ensuring contracts are robust Analyse local expenditures on services and reduce costs with preferred suppliers Tracking and reporting progress/status/savings of projects to Global Procurement and Factory Manage supplier relationships, monitoring KPIs, identifying performance gaps, and driving service improvements Work closely with internal stakeholders, challenging existing supply models and introducing new ideas to optimise spend Experience & Qualifications: Senior Procurement Specialist – Strategic Categories Proven indirect procurement experience, ideally in a large or multi-site environment Strong negotiation skills and the ability to drive commercial value Understanding of contract law and supplier agreements Proven project management, ideally with capex and energy indirect, but happy with directs also Strong negotiation and stakeholder engagement skills A strategic mindset with hands-on leadership Passion for driving change and continuous improvement Highly organised, analytical, and capable of influencing at all levels Resilient, self-motivated, and confident, managing high-value categories A CIPS qualification (or currently studying) would be advantageous Benefits - Senior Procurement Specialist Annual Bonus (10% +) Excellent Pension 25 days holiday + bank holidays +WFH policy Staff discount Ongoing support and development Free lunch at our on-site canteen Friendly and supportive environment offering exceptional reward and recognition For more information on this role, please contact Andrew Haddon on (phone number removed) or send a copy of your CV to (url removed) For details of other opportunities available within your chosen field please visit our website (url removed) Omega is an employment agency specialising in opportunities at all levels within the Engineering, Manufacturing, Aerospace, Automotive, Electronics, Defence, Scientific, Energy & Renewables and Tech sectors
