Our client is looking to add to their continued success and period of growth by recruiting an experienced Toolmaker to join their Toolroom team. This is a full-time, permanent position offering a competitive base salary of up to £42,000 per annum plus excellent company benefits, and long-term career progression opportunities. We are looking for a highly skilled Toolmaker to join the Toolroom department, responsible for manufacturing precision tooling to detailed engineering drawings within tight tolerances, supporting operational performance, and contributing to continuous improvement across the business. To be successful in this role you will be asked to pass a high level security vetting process. Toolmaker main duties: * Manufacture extrusion, mould, and finish dies from raw material. * Produce single-stage clip tools. * Operate a variety of Toolroom machinery, including manual milling, manual turning, and surface grinding. * Undertake 3, 4, and 5-axis milling using Heidenhain and WinMax controls. * Perform polishing to grain (320) finish. * Complete manual compensation and bench work. * Carry out servicing, repair, PPM activity, and respond to breakdowns. * Ensure compliance with safe systems of work, PPE requirements, risk assessments, and strong 5S housekeeping standards. * Inspect parts and ensure they meet the required quality standards. * Share expertise throughout the machining division, supporting operational discipline and continuous improvement. * Work to improve cutting times, minimise scrap, reduce tooling costs, and promote efficiency improvements. Toolmaker desired skills and experience: * Apprentice-trained, time-served Toolmaker, or a minimum of 5 years’ experience in a Toolroom environment. * Experience setting and operating CNC machinery. * Background in hot metal or heavy manufacturing, ideally within aerospace or automotive production. * Strong foundation in metallurgy and material science. * Confident communicator with excellent teamwork and integrity. * Strong understanding of engineering drawings. * Proficient with measuring equipment, including micrometres and height gauges, in both imperial and metric. * Self-motivated, able to work independently and use own initiative. * A champion of continuous improvement who embodies the company’s mission and values.
