JOB TITLE: Systems Engineering Manager LOCATION: Slough SALARY RANGE: Very Competitive & Excellent Benefits 5 Days a week on Site About the Role The Systems Engineering function provides engineering leadership and management across all phases of project delivery, ensuring technical solutions meet scope, cost, and schedule objectives. This role is responsible for leading concurrent engineering activities, ensuring projects are executed in alignment with business, management, and technical processes, and delivering compliant, effective, and cost-conscious solutions. Operating within a framework aligned to ISO 15288 and ISO 24748, the Systems Engineering Manager defines and implements a consistent systems approach across the project lifecycle. The role involves delegation, governance, and assurance of engineering activities to maintain delivery integrity and stakeholder satisfaction. Key responsibilities: As the Systems Engineering Manager you will be able to: * Lead and manage engineering delivery for projects of varying size and complexity, ensuring outcomes are achieved within agreed scope, cost, and schedule. * Provide technical leadership and engineering governance, ensuring adherence to defined processes, standards, and quality requirements. * Drive the application and continuous improvement of systems engineering practices aligned with ISO 15288 and ISO 24748. * Oversee and coordinate multi-disciplinary engineering teams (typically 10+ engineers), ensuring effective delegation, monitoring, and progress control. * Manage the development and delivery of system architectures, integration plans, and design solutions, ensuring design-to-cost and manufacturability principles are met. * Develop engineering strategies, plans, and design artefacts, ensuring full traceability through the system lifecycle. * Quantify and justify Basis of Estimate (BoE) costs for new pursuits and change opportunities. * Apply modelling and systems engineering methods to capture capability needs, define requirements, and quantify solution performance. * Identify and develop project growth and improvement opportunities, leveraging both internal and external insights. * Use engineering lifecycle tools for configuration management, requirements traceability, progress metrics, and evidence generation. What You’ll Need: * In-depth knowledge of the Systems Engineering lifecycle (V-model) and alternative models (iterative, incremental, agile). * Proven engineering management and technical leadership experience, with a track record of delivering complex, multi-disciplinary projects. * Demonstrated ability to mentor, guide, and develop teams, fostering strong collaboration and technical excellence. * Experience in defining system-of-systems architectures or complex integrated solutions. * Competence in requirements management, modelling, and verification and validation (V&V) practices. * Familiarity with engineering management tools (e.g. DOORS, Teamcenter, Jama, Jira, Cameo, or similar).
