Job Title: Client Accountant Location: Bristol, UK Salary: £40,000 – £60,000 per annum Employment Type: Permanent | Full-Time | Hybrid Sector: Accountancy About the Role We are seeking an experienced and qualified Client Accountant to join a well-established accounting firm based in the heart of Bristol. This is a fantastic opportunity for a motivated and detail-oriented professional to manage a diverse client portfolio and deliver high-quality accounting and advisory services. The successful candidate will take ownership of client accounts, overseeing bookkeeping, VAT submissions, tax filings, and year-end accounts preparation, while providing strategic tax planning and financial forecasting advice. Key Responsibilities As a Client Accountant, your duties will include: * Managing a portfolio of clients and ensuring timely delivery of all accounting services. * Preparing and reviewing statutory accounts, management reports, VAT returns, and corporation tax filings. * Providing clients with tax planning, financial forecasting, and business advisory support. * Ensuring compliance with UK financial regulations, accounting standards, and reporting deadlines. * Undertaking company secretarial duties, including maintenance of statutory records and filings with Companies House. * Liaising directly with clients to provide financial insights and maintain strong, professional relationships. * Reviewing financial workflows and identifying opportunities for process improvement and efficiency. * Supporting senior management with strategic initiatives and internal projects. Skills, Experience and Qualifications * ACA, ACCA or CIMA qualified (or equivalent UK accounting qualification). * Minimum of three years’ experience in a client-facing accountancy role. * Demonstrated expertise in accounts preparation, tax compliance, and financial reporting. * Proficiency with accounting software (e.g. Xero, QuickBooks, Sage, or similar). * Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a strong client service ethic. * Highly organised and capable of managing multiple priorities and deadlines. * Strong IT literacy, including Microsoft Excel and other financial systems. * A degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is preferred.
