M&E Project Manager – Data Centre 📍 Location: Essex, UK 💼 Employment Type: Permanent, Full-Time 💰 Salary: Competitive salary + package + car allowance 🕓 Start Date: ASAP 🏗️ Company: Tier 1 Main Contractor Overview We are seeking an experienced M&E Project Manager to join a Tier 1 main contractor delivering a world-leading data centre project in Essex. This is a permanent opportunity to manage the full mechanical and electrical scope on one of the most advanced, mission-critical data centres ever built, designed to host the world’s fastest supercomputer. The successful candidate will oversee the M&E delivery from design coordination through to installation, commissioning, and client handover, ensuring excellence across quality, safety, and performance. Key Responsibilities * Lead and manage the M&E project delivery for a hyperscale, mission-critical data centre. * Coordinate the integration of mechanical (HVAC, cooling systems) and electrical (LV/MV power, UPS, generators) systems. * Oversee subcontractor performance, ensuring safety, technical compliance, and high-quality standards. * Manage project delivery against programme, budget, and specification requirements. * Chair coordination meetings with internal design, commercial, and site teams. * Ensure full MEP design coordination with consultants and suppliers. * Support testing, commissioning, and validation to meet uptime and performance criteria. * Provide technical leadership and mentorship to M&E engineers and supervisors. * Report regularly to senior management and the Project Director on progress, risks, and milestones. Candidate Requirements * Degree or HNC/HND in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering. * Proven experience as an M&E Project Manager, ideally with a Tier 1 main contractor. * Strong track record delivering data centres, mission-critical, or high-tech projects. * In-depth understanding of HVAC, power distribution, UPS, and MEP systems. * Excellent communication, organisational, and leadership skills. * Ability to work effectively under pressure on fast-paced, technically demanding projects.
