Legal Finance Officer

Job Title: Legal Finance Officer – 12–15 Month Maternity Cover Location: Egham Salary: £31,000 – £34,000 Start Date: Immediate Hours: Monday to Friday, between 8:00am and 5:30pm Location: Hybrid (2-month training period onsite) About the Role: We are seeking an experienced Legal Finance Officer to join a busy Finance team on a 12–15 month maternity cover. This is an exciting opportunity for someone with a strong finance background to gain exposure to legal finance operations, supporting the team in maintaining accurate financial records and ensuring compliance with Solicitors Accounts Rules (SAR). The successful candidate must be immediately available and ready to step in to support the team. Key Responsibilities: * Perform daily bank reconciliations for client and office accounts * Accurately allocate and record all office and client receipts * Process supplier invoices and staff expense claims in Sage * Complete monthly supplier reconciliations to maintain ledger accuracy * Review, post, and reconcile counsel fees and other anticipated disbursements * Prepare and issue disbursement and fee bills as required * Assist with weekly and monthly reconciliations and follow up on discrepancies * Produce monthly nominal ledger reports for the Legal Director * Support the annual SRA audit and liaise with external auditors * Handle ad hoc financial reporting requests and queries from the legal team * Maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive financial information professionally Essential Skills & Experience: * Proven finance experience with accounts payable, accounts receivable, or reconciliations * Excellent attention to detail and high numerical accuracy * Strong organisational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritise workloads effectively * Competent in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel * Ability to work independently and as part of a team * Immediate availability Desirable: * Previous experience in a legal finance or legal cashier role * Knowledge of Solicitors Accounts Rules (SAR) * Experience with Sage software * Experience supporting internal or external audits Qualifications: * GCSEs (or equivalent) in Maths and English * AAT qualification (desirable) What’s on offer?:- * Gain exposure to legal finance in a busy, professional environment * Work in a supportive, values-driven team * Fixed-term contract with competitive salary * Immediate start opportunity
