Quality Engineer

Matfield (near Tunbridge Wells) – £35,000 – £45,000 + Bonus + Benefits We are working with a long-established electronics design and assembly business with over 30 years of success and a growing international client base, seeking a Quality Engineer to take full ownership of product and process quality across the factory. This is an on-site, hands-on position that plays a central role in ensuring all products meet customer expectations for performance, reliability, and compliance. The role focuses on practical problem solving, continuous improvement, and collaboration with production and design teams to embed quality throughout the manufacturing process — with some ISO compliance and audit responsibilities included as part of its scope. Key Duties & Responsibilities * Own daily product and process quality across electronics assembly, driving timely fixes and sustainable improvements * Investigate issues using structured methods (8D, PFMEA, root cause analysis) and close the loop with internal teams and customers * Monitor and improve manufacturing processes; identify risks and implement corrective and preventive actions * Perform Goods In/Out checks and support in-process and final inspections (working with, not outsourcing to, third parties) * Collate and analyse quality data (NCRs, returns) to spot trends and prioritise actions; report progress to stakeholders * Maintain the calibration register and ensure tools/equipment are calibrated with minimal downtime * Collaborate with Production, Design and Management to embed best practice and raise standards across lines * Support internal/external audits as needed and contribute to continuous improvement projects Skills & Experience Required * Proven background in a quality or engineering role within electronics manufacturing/PCB assembly * Working knowledge of electronic assembly steps, common defects and their implications for customers * Strong, demonstrable problem-solving toolkit (e.g. 8D, PFMEA, RCA) with evidence of results * Able to influence across functions and at operator/line-manager level (leadership without direct reports) * Confident communicating with customers on quality topics and closing actions * Familiarity with ISO 9001 and inspection/test processes (IPC-A-610 advantageous) * HNC/HND (or equivalent experience) in Engineering/Quality; organised, detail-driven, and comfortable working on-site full-time Summary Position: Quality Engineer Location: Matfield, near Tunbridge Wells Duration: Permanent Salary: £35,000 – £45,000 + Bonus + Benefits Hours: 37.5 per week (flexitime, early Friday finish) Start: ASAP or notice dependent If you bring electronics production knowledge, a proven problem-solving toolkit, and the confidence to align teams around quality, we’d like to hear from you.
