Flooring Quantity Surveyor


Our client is a respected specialist flooring contractor delivering commercial flooring solutions for new build and refurbishment projects across the education, healthcare, corporate, and residential sectors.  Projects typically range from large-scale developments to bespoke installations involving vinyl, carpet, LVT, timber, and resin systems. With a strong reputation for high-quality delivery and long-standing client relationships, they continue to experience sustained growth and are now seeking an experienced Quantity Surveyor to join their commercial team in Essex. Role Overview The Quantity Surveyor will oversee the commercial and financial management of multiple flooring projects, ensuring cost control, accurate reporting, and contract compliance from tender through to final account. Key Responsibilities Manage all commercial elements of flooring projects, including valuations, variations, and final accounts. Prepare cost plans, cash flow forecasts, and cost-value reconciliations. Handle procurement of subcontractors and materials in line with budgets and specifications. Assess and certify subcontractor payments and applications. Liaise directly with main contractors, clients, and internal teams on commercial matters. Monitor project costs, margins, and overall financial performance. Identify and mitigate commercial risks, ensuring projects remain profitable and compliant. Experience & Skills Required Minimum 4 years’ experience as a Quantity Surveyor within flooring, finishes, or interiors subcontracting. Proven track record managing commercial flooring projects for Tier 1 or Tier 2 contractors. Experience with flooring systems such as vinyl, carpet, timber, LVT, and resin. Callidus software experience beneficial (not essential). Strong numerical and analytical skills with excellent attention to detail. Confident communicator with the ability to liaise effectively with clients, suppliers, and site teams. Degree or HND in Quantity Surveying or Commercial Management preferred.
